Buckhead Mid-Atlantic Product Guide

Metropolitan Meat, Seafood & Poultry is proud to announce they have recently become a Certified Chain of Custody (CoC) Supplier of MSC and ASC seafood products. The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) are two of the largest and most recognized of the independent seafood industry governing standards.
The purpose of the certification is to contribute to the health of the world’s oceans by recognizing and rewarding sustainable fishing and to influence the choices people make when buying seafood. Certified products have been assessed and certified as “ecologically sustainable and fully traceable”.
The Marine Stewardship Council is an international non-profit organization established to address the problem of unsustainable wild-caught fishing and safeguard seafood supplies for the future.
To be MSC certified, fisheries are independently assessed by scientists and marine experts to ensure they meet their standard for environmentally sustainable fishing. Annual audits ensure that they maintain these standards. MSC certified fisheries minimize their impacts on the marine environment to ensure healthy, thriving oceans for the future. Processors, retailers and restaurants must ensure that MSC certified seafood is not mixed with uncertified product and can be traced back to a certified fishery.
The Aquaculture Stewardship Council aims to be the world's leading certification and labeling program for responsibly farmed seafood. The ASC's primary role is to manage the global standards for responsible aquaculture.
